Cognitive and Behavioural Assessment

A comprehensive assessment is conducted to review an individual’s experiences and presentations against diagnostic criteria (DSM5-TR) which includes:

• 1.5-2 hour appointment (telehealth or in person appointment) which is conversational in nature using a validated interview measure. A support person can also attend the appointments if you wish.

• Completion of online questionnaires exploring ADHD, ASD, cognitive or Specific Learning Disorder traits, adaptive functioning, and executive functioning

• Report with findings, diagnoses (if applicable), and recommendations.

• Feedback session (30min to 1hr) to discuss assessment outcomes.

Please note - Psychologists cannot prescribe medication, therefore if you are interested in trialling ADHD medication you instead have the option of obtaining a referral from your GP for a Psychiatrist who will conduct their own assessment and do not need a Psychologist’s assessment. This will save money and time. However, a Psychologist assessment of ADHD may be helpful for people who don’t want to trial medication but want to know if they are an ADHDer and to better understand how their brain works and what scaffolds/support they may require.

NB if you are seeking a report for NDIS purposes, ADHD alone will not qualify for NDIS.

For young people, some diagnoses require confirmation by a Paediatrician.

There are no rebates for assessment sessions.
