Karra Peppler
Provisional Psychologist at the Warragul and Korumburra clinics for 6yo+
Karra is a provisionally registered psychologist who has studied both in Victoria and Tasmania to achieve her accreditation so far. She has had many careers before landing on the hard pathway of the world of psychology. She worked as a wellbeing officer in a school, working to assist young students when they experienced distress or were struggling to connect with school, their families or their friends. Her thesis was about peer support for parents, and she understands the power that being there for each other as individuals and as a community can bring.
Karra believes that everyone is an individual, and that we all have a unique set of contextual factors to consider in our lives. She believes we are all doing our best, and that this can be really hard. She knows that working together can help when that does get really hard. In therapy, she works with clients using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) forward strategies with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) mixed in so that she can flexibly help someone work towards their goals. In the future she will undertake more professional development so that she can continue to work flexibly in ways that the client needs.
Karra grew up in Gippsland and has travelled far and wide across the globe, doing jobs like teaching English and nannying to travel and see the way different cultures live and understand the world. She has developed a deep appreciation for different perspectives across the world and is very proud to be from Gippsland. After many years away, she has returned home and has a vested interest in the wellness of the local community.
She wants to help a diverse range of people and strives to be inclusive and affirming in her practices, and has experience supporting neurodiverse and LGBTQIA+ populations.
