Tom is no coward to challenges, he believes it is at our most uncomfortable situations and scenarios that we have great opportunity for change and growth. Tom thrives in supporting individuals develop confidence in decision making and embracing and being mindful of those more challenging moments, which are inevitable.
He has worked amongst youth populations and supported young people through their challenges through his Youth Worker role in South East Queensland, where he ran mental health educational workshops in schools and provided a safe space for young people from a variety of backgrounds engage with community and one another, though Cooking groups, Board game afternoons and co-facilitating ‘Build a Bike’ workshops. He has also worked conducting triaging sessions to understanding an individual’s challenges and devising a health plan of support for young people.
Tom graduated The University of Queensland with a Masters in Counselling and has a master’s in Social and Organisational Psychology from The University of Exeter.
His prior education dwelled into business psychology (BSc) before he developed a passion in being able to support individuals and families.
Tom’s passion in supporting individuals came from his years of bag packing and supporting communities in rural South America and living amongst many families from a variety of cultural backgrounds along his world ticket. He has also tested his own boundaries by partaking in many activities such as Sky-dives, bungy jumps and white water rafting, however he admits he needs down time to recover in the form of paddle-boarding, hiking and coffee hunting.
Other than food, he has witnessed that communication is a universal language that is shared by many populations, as a form of connectedness and fulfilment. Amongst these conversations, he has seen how communities, families and individuals use speech as an enrichment tool in supporting many of lives scenarios that we may face.
Tom is and Accredited Level 2 ACA (Australian Counselling Association) Member and works from our Warragul clinic and telehealth.
